PJ&PJ Taylor Pty Ltd have developed a range of single phase motors primarily designed only for pumping  in the higher KW range with a unique soft start & current limiting feature in the starting cycle.

Single phase motors have previously drawn 4 > 6 x Full Load Current on starting making the use of large single phase motors restrictive , now with the proven SOFTPHAZ design this is no longer a concern, as in many cases the 18.5 kw SOFTPHAZ  motor consumes less starting current than a conventional 7.5kw single phase motor.

There is no excessive transition current peak from the starting cycle to the run cycle as the starting cycle is NOT selectable but is LOAD & SUPPLY voltage dependent , ie: the transition from start to run is achieved when motor is at 80 > 90% of full speed regardless of time taken.

Unlike VSDs or VVVF drives that can have a rating to supply ratio of 10 > 40% due to harmonic distortion
(AS2279 part 2 ), SOFTPHAZ can utilize 100% of the supply transformer capacity.
